Hazel Blears has announced that funding to support community engagement in the planning system will be made available through the empowerment fund and via Housing and Planning Delivery Grants to local authorities. Grants of up to £70,000 will be available to councils to strengthen engagement in the planning process particularly among under-represented groups.
