The Prime Minister's Strategy Unit has published a discussion paper on social mobility ahead of a white paper in the New Year. 'Getting On, Getting Ahead,' concludes that that social mobility has remained broadly unchanged since 1970. Four key areas where the Government can achieve more have been identified; early years childcare; education; post-16 education and training and workplace skills.
