Local Area Agreements must go further to be effective
Local Government think tank New Local Government Network has published a report calling for councils to be given greater control over LAAs. They say despite significant progress, more could be done to reward success and allow greater flexibility for those who deliver improvement. The report also claims that the national indicator set is not sufficiently well defined to make LAAs truly locally relevant.
