Councils no longer able to ignore petitions

New guidance has been published setting out how local authorities should respond to petitions. Essentially councils will no longer be able to ignore petitions that raise difficult or challenging issues and they will be required to tell residents what action is going to be taken to address their concerns. Key areas covered by the guidelines are under performing schools and hospitals, alcohol-related crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour. Guidance
