The Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act

This became law on 12th November, introducing a range of provisions including extending the Duty to Involve and new duties for council's to include promoting democracy, responding to petitions, and assessing local economic conditions. It also includes a new joint duty on regional development agencies and local authorities to produce a single regional strategy, establish a national tenants voice, and introduces measures to support small, local construction business in construction contracts. Implementation of the duty to promote democracy has been put on hold.
