Travellers offered a ‘fair deal' amid clampdown on unauthorised sites

Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles, has announced plans to give Travellers more secure tenancies on local authority sites, whilst getting tougher on unauthorised encampments by scrapping planning rules. The move will give councils stronger powers and incentives to build new sites: but critics claim it will further discriminate against an already marginalised community.
