Local Development Framework (PPS12)

Planning policy Statements (PPS) set out the Government's policies on different aspects of spatial planning in England. PPS12 sets out policy in relation to Local Development Frameworks (LDFs), and has been revised in an attempt to give local authorities "greater freedom to determine the most appropriate way to prepare their development plan documents".

PPS12 explains what spatial planning is, how it benefits communities, what the key ingredients of local spatial plans are and how plans should be prepared. It also talks about more effective integration with other plans and strategies such as the sustainable community strategy (SCS).
