How Your Council Works – A Handy Guide for Community Groups

Urban Forum and NAVCA, together with the National Empowerment Partnership and IDeA, have published How Your Council Works: A Handy Guide for Community Groups.

The guide, produced in a handy pocket-size, give you the lowdown on the structures and workings of your council. It tells you which part of the council is responsible for the myriad of responsibilities that the council has, and which council to contact if you live in a two-tier area.

The guide, which was mentioned in the Community Empowerment White Paper, shows you how you can get involved effectively with the council and what your council is legally bound to do to properly engage with you. It also contains hot tips on what steps to take to improve your relationship with this important local player.
