FAQs

I'm currently a member, does the free membership apply to me?
Yes, absolutely. We will automatically add an extra 12 months of membership from when your membership is due to be renewed. So, for example, if your membership is due to be renewed in March 2011, then your free membership will run until February 2012. You don't need to do anything, just sit back and enjoy your free year's membership. What do I get as part of the free membership?
Everything! Our offer is exactly the same as our current membership. So that means free publications, exclusive events, a monthly Policy Round Up and a chance to contribute to our research and policy work. Find out more about the benefits of membership

Is there a catch?
No, there's no catch. These are challenging times and we recognise that it's more important than ever that voluntary and community groups get the support they need. All we ask is that you help us to create a strong voice for the community sector by getting involved in what we do!

Who is entitled to free membership?
Our free membership offer is open to any not for profit organisation based in England. So community groups, charities and voluntary organisation, social enterprises, faith groups are all welcome to join us. If you're from the public or private sector, academia or an individual, you can still become an associate member for a very reasonable amount!

What happens when my free year is up?
That's a good question and one which is yet to be decided. We're keen to see how this year goes and hear what members think before any decision is taken.

Will I have to pay for any services?
As a member, nothing has changed and all our member services are free. There are some services that we do charge for such as additional copies of our publications, training and consultancy work and some of our events and training. However members receive a substantial discount on all of these services, making them even better value for money!
