The Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC), which is being abolished, will be replaced by the Major Infrastructure Planning Unit, which will be part of the Planning Inspectorate. The current chair and commissioners of the IPC will stay on until 2014, moving to the new body following the Localism Bill receiving Royal Assent.
