Policy Forum on Community Cohesion March 2007
Following research conducted at Urban Forum's Annual Conference in December 2006 we decided to focus our first Policy Forum on Community Cohesion.
One way of involving Urban Forum members more directly in influencing policy are Policy Forums. These bring together small groups of members to focus on a specific area of policy that has a direct effect on the communities they live in and work with. They provide an opportunity to:
1. Develop ideas and gather evidence for policy change
2. Present these ideas directly to policy makers (e.g. MPs, civil servants)
Urban Forum's Chair at that time, Ed Cox, was a member of the Commission on Integration and Cohesion and this gave our members an excellent opportunity to feed directly into their work. For more information on the Commission on Integration and Cohesion go to the DCLG website .
