Major riots and looting took place over three nights in August 2011 starting in Tottenham, and spreading to 24 London boroughs, and 20 or so other towns and cities across the UK. The Autumn edition of our online magazine, Clearway, will be taking an in-depth look at the riots. In the meantime, read blogs posted by Urban Forum's Toby Bume as the riots were happening.

The government has appointed Alan Milburn as an independent reviewer of social mobility and child poverty, to report to Parliament in Spring 2012. Evidence needs to be submitted by the 17th October 2011.
