DWP announces Work Programme prime contractors
The Department for Work and Pensions has announced the awarding of 40 contracts to deliver support for unemployed people to access work and training. Only one contract has been awarded to a not-for-profit organisation (in partnership with a private sector company) although 289 charities will be sub-contractors. Several VCS and social enterprise figures have expressed disappointment and frustration over the decision.
