Treasury offer cash to local authorities to freeze council tax
The Chancellor George Osborne has announced funding of £805m to local authorities that do not increase council tax for 2012-13. The initiative, which the Chancellor says will be funded by savings from "waste and inefficiency", will offer cash to councils that limit spending increases to 2.5%.
