The Duty to Involve - a reality check

16th November 2009, Burnley

Urban Forum teamed up with North West Together We Can (the NW Regional Empowerment Partnership) to run this FREE event for anyone in the North West region.

The event was designed to be a great opportunity to build understanding around the Duty to Involve, explore implications for practice, assess progress and demonstrate effectiveness. The programme included:

  • An interactive voting session to assess current knowledge and opinions
  • Examples of good involvement practice to inspire and challenge from Michael Pitchford and Tom Archer, joint authors of the Community Development Foundation's guide 'Duty to Involve: Making it Work'
  • Small group discussions to enable sharing of practical ideas around involvement and explore how progress against the Duty to Involve could be measured

This event was aimed at councillors, council officers, voluntary and community organisations, health workers, the Police and all those involved in partnership working.
