A study on local authorities’ economic plans
The Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) has published a new research report, Towards a new wave of local economic activism: the future for economic development strategies. The report claims that the economic plans by local authorities throughout England are unfit for purpose and old-fashioned. The research tested the local economic strategies of councils on 20 different key criteria. It demonstrated that less than a third discussed the role of the third sector in economic life and only 13% included neighbourhood regeneration in their economic plans.
