Number of retiring MPs reaches new heights

To-date, 130 MPs have announced they are standing down at the general election - 78 from Labour, 36 Conservatives, 7 Liberal Democrats, 3 independents (Derek Conway, Andrew Pelling and Clare Short), Alex Salmond from the Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru's Adam Price. This means that at least one in five MPs in the next parliament will be "new".
